2009/2010 News

Recent results have seen our under 11 Utd. boys team clinch second place in their league with an excellent run in of eleven games unbeaten which included taking points from the eventual title winners St. Aengus. Well done to the boys and their managers.

Congratulations to the under 15 boys team and management who won the under 15 shield final beating Mullingar Athletic in a thriller after extra time.

The under fourteen major title saw the much anticipated clash of Town and Abbeyleix  with Tullamore being crowned champions with a hard fought one nil win. This was particularily sweet for the home side as Town have been runners up to Abbeyleix over the past three seasons. Special thanks to all who came out to support and well done boys.

Next up it was the turn of the under 13 boys who had to travel to Abbeyleix needing to secure a point to capture the under 13 major title. In another thrilling final game the boys played out an excellent nil all draw and were duly crowned champions after what has been a fantastic year for the boys and their managers, and with a cup campaign still remaining no doubt the experience of this season with their heroic national cup run will live long in their memory and be of huge benefit to all involved in the years ahead.

Special mention to our under 10 Town and United teams and their managers who finished second and third respectively in their league. A great achievement by both teams in their very first competitive season.

Congratulations to our under 10 girls team and managers who made history by clinching the first ever schoolgirls title for the club. Great effort by all concerned. .

Note From MSL
Dear Secretary,
Having reviewed the divisions with clubs entering and withdrawing teams please note the following:
Under 14 Division 1; As there are now only 5 teams in this division there will be 3 rounds of fixtures.
Under 12 Division 1; As there are now 13 teams in this division which would mean 24 games and a lot of travelling for the clubs and more expense it has been decided to split this division as we did last season into Division 1 East and West which will cut down on travel and the amount of games. As there are 13 teams it will be split into a 6 and 7 team divisions as follows:
Under 12 Div 1 East
Under 12 Div 1 West

Derry Rovers

If teams have already played games against each other in their own new division the result stands but if teams have played another team from their opposite division that result will be null and void.
