CCFL U17 Cup Quarter Final Result:

Birr Town 5-3 Tullamore Town

Although we don't have an U17 league team we entered this cup with an eye on next season and although we travelled to Birr with only 11 players including two keepers, we gave the U17 League Leaders the fright of their lives, we went one down in the first half against the run of play but we equalised through a lovely Luke Matthews goa...l, Birr regained the lead and the halftime score was 2-1. Tullamore came flying out of the blocks and started to dominate the game and equalised through Luke again, with Tullamore dominant we took the lead thanks to a goal from Cormac Deegan. With 18 minutes left Tullamore were awarded a penalty but unfortunately missed the chance to go 4-2 up and probably win the game, credit to Birr Town however as the never gave up and equalised with 15 mins to go, it was end to end stuff and Tullamore almost regained the lead with 5 mins left but Cormac's header hit the crossbar. With tired legs and no subs Birr scored with two minutes on the clock to make it 4-3 and as Tullamore threw men forward looking for a deserved equaliser Birr hit them on the break to make it 5-3. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve in football and that was the case today but everyone one of the lads can be very proud of the performance and the future is bright for these lads. Well done to Birr Town who never gave up and best of luck in the next round

Magnificent Win in Polikoff Cup

Our LSL side produced arguably their best performance of the season last night when defeating Enniskerry to reach the last eight of the Polikoff Cup. Enniskerry were very physical at times but Tullamore played the better football throughout, Enniskerrys only had two chances on goal scored from one and Keeper Alan O'Connell pulled off a tremendous save at 1-1. Macdarragh O'Neill had a chance to win it... in normal time after scoring the equaliser but was denied by the Enniskerry keeper. Tullamore were by far the better team in extra time and their dominance was rewarded in the last five minutes with goals from Arron Hensey and Kevin Minnock, it was a great team performance from all with the back four of Michael Kenaney, Ross Kinnarney, Rory Condron and Trevor Moylan solid all night. Patrick Gorman, Andy Quinn and the magnificent duo of Stephen Francis and Mark Casey dominated midfield. Jonni Smith played well when introduced as a sub do MacDarragh. Well done to Pappy and the lads and let's hope this can lead to greater things!

Unbeaten Start Continues

Another three points tonight for our LSL side, they did not come easy however as a very determined and tough Maynooth side threw everything at Tullamore in the second half to try to cancel out Scott Delaney's goal. It was all in vain however as the Tullamore defence dealt with everything that was thrown at them. It makes it 11 points from 15 for the lads and hopefully we can continue the good run of form, well done to Pappy and all the lads on a great start to the season.

No luck for either senior team

LSL Sunday Major Result:

Lorcan Celtic 2-2 Tullamore Town

Both of our senior teams saw the rub of the green go against us as our LSL Side came from a goal down to lead 2-1 thanks to goals from Trevor Moylan and Scott Delaney but the could not hold out for the three points as Lorcan Celtic equalised midway through the second half. Despite long spells of pressure Town couldn't find a winner. The lads will be looking to get back to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they take on Athy Town at 7.45pm in Leah Victoria Park.

CCFL Premier Division Result:

Willow Park 3-1 Tullamore Town

Our CCFL side travelled to Athlone with an understrength squad and despite their best efforts they were unable to bring anything away from a strong Willow Park side. Some defensive frailties were to prove Towns undoing as the recovered from a goal down to equalise through Eddie Kenehan. Wllow regained the lead before halftime however and Tullamore couldn't find an equaliser in the second half. Willow secured the three points with another goal in injury time. The lads will look to get back on track next weekend when they play Abbeyleix Athletic at home.

21/08/2013

CCFL Side slip to defeat.

Tullamore Town 0-1 Edenderry Town

Tullamore's CCFL side took on Edenderry Town tonight in an evenly contested game, both sides played well throughout and a draw was probably what both sides deserved. However Edenderry got the break on 25 minutes to take the lead and held on to it to take all 3 points. Tullamore can be happy with their performance tonight but this league is shaping up to be a tough one and we will need to keep the performance levels high and hope that Lady Luck shines on us during the season as she didn't turn up go us tonight!

20/08/2013

LSL Side begin season with a win!

Tullamore Town 1 - 0 Enniskerry YC

Excellent performance from our LSL side tonight against a big physical Enniskerry outfit. Great credit to Pappy and the lads for the manner of the victory where they withstood everything the Wicklow side threw at them. It was a great start to the new season and one of the most encouraging aspects was that 8 of the starting 11 were under the age of 23. We created the better chances on the night against a very well organised side so lets hope it can continue for the season! Well done to all!!!!!
